Biography:
Somiah is a Consultant Head and Neck Surgeon and trust wide clinical lead for the robotics programme at University Hospitals Birmingham. Dual-qualified, with an early career in hospital dentistry and Oral & Maxillofacial training, she brings a multidisciplinary perspective to head and neck cancer care and surgical innovation.
She has contributed to the development of international consensus, including the RoboDev recommendations on the safe development and expansion of robotic surgical programmes worldwide, and the European Transoral Robotic Surgery (TORS) guidelines for head and neck cancers.
She is Chair of the West Midlands Cancer Alliance Head and Neck Expert Advisory Group and currently serves as Secretary of the British Association of Head and Neck Oncologists (BAHNO) Council.
