Biography:
Karim is a senior registrar in medical oncology at the Edinburgh Cancer Centre and a Clinical Academic Fellow at the University of Edinburgh’s Institute of Genetics and Cancer (2025-2028). In his PhD, he is using multiomic techniques to improve risk stratification in endometrioid ovarian cancer. His research interests include gynaecological cancers, with a special focus on less common and understudied ovarian cancer histotypes, and cancer of unknown primary.

Karim completed his primary medical qualification and BSc in Medical Sciences at the University of Aberdeen, graduating in 2017. Following this, he also completed an MSc in Health Economics, Policy and Management at the London School of Economics. Karim trained in various large teaching hospitals across North London, before returning to Scotland in 2022 to take up a registrar training post in medical oncology.
Alongside his clinical and academic responsibilities, Karim is co-chair of the UK Society of Medical Oncology Residents Committee, as well as a committee member on the Medical Oncology and Clinical Oncology Intercollegiate Oncology Forum and the Scottish Specialist Advisory Committee for Medical Oncology.
