Biography:
Mr Krishna Moorthy is a Consultant Surgeon in Imperial College Healthcare NHS trust and a Clinical Associate Professor in surgery in Imperial College London. His clinical interests are in minimally invasive surgery (laparoscopic/ robotic) for benign and malignant oesophago-gastric surgery including weight loss procedures. He also specializes in all types of hernias and complex abdominal wall reconstructions. His research interests are driven by the desire to improve patient safety and quality of care in surgery. He was a member of the international working group for development of the WHO surgical checklist. He led the development of the PREPARE prehabilitation programme in Imperial College which won the BMJ Surgical team of the year and Patient Engagement awards. Based on his research in prehabilitation, he has also founded Alviehealth, a digital health start-up providing personalised AI enabled digital coaching and supportive care for people affected by cancer across the UK.
