Biography:
Dr Miranda Payne is a Consultant in Medical Oncology with expertise in the systemic treatment of melanoma, the consequences of immunotherapy, the multidisciplinary management of mucosal melanoma and cancer vaccine clinical trials. Miranda took a first in Physiology from Oxford University, completed clinical training in 1999 and was awarded a CRUK Clinical Fellowship in 2006, leading to a DPhil in Medical Oncology. Miranda has been an Oncology Consultant for over a decade. She is passionate about advancing cancer treatments through innovative and ethical research and overcoming barriers to trial participation. She is a previous Medical Oncology Training Programme Director and Clinical Lead for her department,  was an elected member of the National Cancer Research Institute Skin Group, is a co-author of the NICE-accredited national UK guidelines for the management of Ano-uro-genital Mucosal and Head & Neck Mucosal Melanoma, is a Trustee of Melanoma Focus, previously chairing the Melanoma Focus patient guide and now their medical advisory committee, and has been an editor of the Oxford Handbook of Oncology for over 20 years.
