Biography:
Jocelyn, known as Joss, began her dental career in 1987 as a dental nurse in the Royal Navy and qualified as a dental hygienist in 1992. Since 2016, Joss has been widely published in national and international publications, with her article in BDJ Team ranking as the second most accessed, an astounding145k accesses.

In 2018, she was invited to become a Clinical Ambassador for the Mouth Cancer Foundation and a member of United Kingdom Oral Management in Cancer care group (UKOMiC). Joss won dental Hygienist of the Year in 2018. In 2023, Joss completed her MSc and published a peer-reviewed book, which has been sold worldwide raising over £2,500 for charity. Joss has been asked to speak for many medical and dental conferences and internationally in Italy and Seoul.

In 2024, Joss was invited to become a Fellow of the College of General Dentistry, the first UK-wide independent College representing the whole oral healthcare team. Her research was published in the International Journal of Dental Hygiene in 2025. Joss also saw her win another national Dental hygienist of the Year award.

Joss has started her three-year term as the President of the Mouth Cancer Foundation, now in its 21st year, the longest running head and neck cancer charity in the UK.

Joss works part-time at NUYU Cheltenham and Bristol Dental School as a Clinical Tutor, and feels honoured to support patients, caregivers, and professionals by providing evidence-based oral care advice
