Biography:
Jo Gemmill is an Advanced Practice Therapeutic Radiographer specialising in head and neck oncology at Addenbrooke’s Hospital. She trained in Therapeutic Radiography at City University London and the Royal Free Hospital. She has completed a range of postgraduate qualifications to support her advanced and independent practice, with established expertise in radiotherapy and the management of patients undergoing head and neck radiotherapy and chemoradiotherapy.
She provides clinical leadership across patient care and service development, with a focus on treatment toxicities, supportive care, and patient experience. In 2019, she became the first therapeutic radiographer Independent and Supplementary Prescriber at Addenbrooke’s and leads Non-Medical Prescribing and PGD services within radiotherapy.
Jo is a committee member of UKOMiC, (UK Oral Management in Cancer Group), a multiprofessional national group that develops national guidance, education, and training on the management of oral care and oral complications in cancer care for healthcare professionals. Jo integrates clinical hypnosis techniques to support patient wellbeing and treatment tolerance. Her work focuses on advancing radiographer-led practice and delivering innovative, patient-centred approaches that improve outcomes and experience for people undergoing cancer treatment.
